Matcha is a powdered green tea historically used in the Japanese tea ceremony. This premium culinary grade matcha is vibrant green in color and produced by family farms in Shizuoka, Japan. It possesses a rich vegetal fragrance, a smooth texture and delicate aftertaste, perfect for making matcha drinks and other culinary purposes.

 

Our organic matcha is stone-ground from green tea leaves from some of the best tea farms in Japan. The tea leaves are shade grown for 20-30 days before harvest, a process that significantly increases the health benefits of the leaf. Matcha contains L-Theanine, which is a powerful amino acid that is naturally calming and relaxing. L-Theanine interacts with caffeine to produce a longer, more sustained source of energy and focus compared to coffee. Organic matcha is much more rare than conventional matcha, and it is grown without harmful chemicals and fertilizers.

Instructions

For matcha tea, start by adding 1-2 grams (1/2 tsp - 1 tsp) of matcha to a matcha bowl. Add 1 oz of hot water (about 160℉) to the bowl and whisk until smooth with a bamboo whisk. Add another 1-3 oz of hot water and whisk until frothy. Enjoy!

Matcha contains 30-40mg of naturally occurring caffeine per serving (1g). A typical cup of coffee contains roughly 100mg of caffeine.
